Art Scanner with AI Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 3, 2026
Effective Date: April 3, 2026
Welcome to the Art Scanner with AI Privacy Policy ("Policy"). This Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Art Scanner with AI mobile application ("App"). Please read this Policy carefully along with our Terms and Conditions of Use.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.
────────────────────────────────────────
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect and process the following types of information:
a) Images You Provide
When you use the App to scan artwork, you provide images either by taking a photo with your camera or selecting an image from your device's photo gallery. These images are:
• Sent to Google's Gemini AI service for analysis (see Section 3 for details).
• Saved locally on your device within the App's private storage area.
• NOT uploaded to our servers. We do not store your images on any cloud server.
b) Scan Results
When you scan an artwork, the AI-generated analysis results (including identified artwork title, artist name, historical information, and artistic analysis) are:
• Stored locally on your device in a local database (SQLite).
• A maximum of 20 scan results are retained on your device. When the limit is reached, the oldest scan results and their associated images are automatically deleted.
c) Scan Metadata
For the purpose of improving our service and understanding usage patterns, we collect limited metadata about your scans:
• Artwork title and subtitle (as identified by the AI)
• An anonymous user identifier
• Timestamp of the scan
This metadata is stored on Google Firebase Firestore. It does NOT include your images, the full AI analysis text, or any personally identifiable information.
d) Anonymous Authentication
The App uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create a random, anonymous user identifier (UID). This identifier:
• Does NOT require you to create an account, provide an email, phone number, or any personal information.
• Is used solely to associate scan metadata with a session.
• Cannot be used to identify you personally.
e) App Usage Analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data, including:
• App open events
• Feature usage (e.g., scan started, scan completed, image source selected)
• Subscription page views and purchase events
• Error events (e.g., scan failures)
This data is collected in aggregate form and does not personally identify you. It helps us understand how Users interact with the App so we can improve the experience.
f) Purchase Information
If you subscribe to our premium service, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play Store. We do NOT directly collect, process, or store your payment information (such as credit card numbers). We only receive confirmation of your subscription status from the respective app store.
────────────────────────────────────────
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information collected for the following purposes:
• To provide the core service: analyzing artwork images using AI and displaying results to you.
• To store your scan history locally so you can review past scans.
• To process and manage your premium subscription status.
• To analyze aggregated, anonymous usage patterns to improve the App.
• To identify and fix technical issues and bugs.
• To ensure the security and integrity of the App.
We do NOT use your information for:
• Targeted advertising or ad personalization.
• Selling or renting your data to third parties.
• Building personal profiles about you.
────────────────────────────────────────
3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App uses the following third-party services that may collect and process data:
a) Google Gemini AI (Google LLC)
• Purpose: To analyze artwork images and generate detailed information about the artwork.
• Data shared: The image you scan is sent to Google's Gemini AI API for processing.
• Google's processing of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and Google's Generative AI Terms of Service.
• We do not control how Google processes data sent to their AI service.
b) Google Firebase (Google LLC)
We use several Firebase services:
• Firebase Anonymous Authentication: Creates anonymous user identifiers.
• Firebase Firestore: Stores scan metadata (artwork title, subtitle, anonymous user ID, timestamp).
• Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymous app usage statistics.
Firebase's data processing is governed by Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and the Firebase Terms of Service.
c) Apple App Store / Google Play Store
• Purpose: Processing in-app subscription payments.
• Data shared: Payment transactions are handled directly by the respective platform.
• Their data processing is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/) and Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy), respectively.
────────────────────────────────────────
4. DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION
a) Local Data (On Your Device)
• Scan results (title, subtitle, AI analysis text, images) are stored locally on your device.
• A maximum of 20 scan records are retained. Older records are automatically deleted when this limit is exceeded.
• Local data is stored within the App's private storage area and is not accessible to other apps.
• Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all locally stored data.
b) Cloud Data (Firebase Firestore)
• Scan metadata (title, subtitle, anonymous user ID, timestamp) is stored on Firebase Firestore servers.
• This data is retained for service improvement purposes and may be periodically deleted.
c) Analytics Data
• Anonymous analytics data is retained according to Google Firebase Analytics' standard retention policies.
────────────────────────────────────────
5. DATA SECURITY
We take reasonable measures to protect your information:
• All data transmitted between the App and third-party services (Firebase, Gemini AI) is encrypted using industry-standard TLS/SSL protocols.
• Local data is stored in the App's sandboxed storage area, which is protected by the operating system.
• We use anonymous authentication, meaning no personally identifiable credentials are stored.
• We do not store payment information on our servers.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
────────────────────────────────────────
6. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
a) Deleting Local Data
• You can delete individual scan records from your scan history within the App.
• You can delete all local data by uninstalling the App.
b) Analytics Opt-Out
• You can limit analytics data collection by adjusting your device's privacy settings:
- iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements
- Android: Settings > Google > Ads
c) Camera and Photo Access
• The App will request permission to access your camera and photo gallery. You can deny or revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings. Without these permissions, the scanning feature will not function.
────────────────────────────────────────
7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
────────────────────────────────────────
8. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where Google's servers are located. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries. We rely on Google's data protection measures and standard contractual clauses for international data transfers.
────────────────────────────────────────
9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
